Two stray chihuahua hybrids became covered in cactus spines in a woman’s front yard in Mesa, Arizona. As a result, they experienced intense pain.
An individual alerted the fire department, and upon their arrival, they discovered the dogs’ heads engulfed in spines, lying on the ground. The dogs were in excruciating pain, unable to move, and trembling uncontrollably.
The firefighters managed to assist the dogs, despite their fear and attempts to flee. Unfortunately, the dogs acquired additional spines while rolling around. Eventually, they successfully removed the dogs from the cactus spines and transported them to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control veterinary clinic. Fortunately, the spines were successfully extracted after administering anesthesia.
Eventually, the dogs are presently undergoing medical treatment and receiving antibiotics at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. Once fully recovered, they will be eligible for adoption since they were not microchipped.
