The male grey seal, Yulelogs, was given a birthday cake consisting of fish and ice, which was the best gift he could have hoped for!
Yulelogs, an endearing seal, recently celebrated his 24th birthday, and naturally, his friends wanted to make sure it was a day he would never forget.
Male grey seals typically do not survive beyond the age of 25, but Yulelogs is a lively, content, and self-sufficient elder.
Yulelogs has been a resident of the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, located in Cornwall, England, since 1993, having spent a brief time in the wild.
As a young pup, the seal was brought to a marine park in 1989, where he resided for a few years as a member of their Grey seal exhibit.
Following a four-year stint, the park decided to release Yulelogs into the wild and closed his exhibit.
However, after being in captivity for so long, Yulelogs was unprepared to care for himself.
Accustomed to being given treats by humans, he began chasing individuals carrying buckets on the beach, presuming that the containers were filled with delicious fish.
The RSPCA received reports of the ravenous seal pursuing bewildered beachgoers and swiftly contacted the Seal Sanctuary for assistance.
After just three months on his own, Yulelogs relocated to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, where he has been contentedly feasting on their fish ever since.
Yulelogs adores his comfortable existence at the sanctuary, and when he received his fish-filled birthday cake, he was overjoyed; he beamed with happiness and excitement, grinning from ear to ear.
The birthday cake wasn’t just a delectable snack but also served as a puzzle, and Yulelogs had a fantastic time attempting to uncover the best way to reach the scrumptious fish.
According to a shelter worker who spoke with The Dodo, extracting the fish from the cake necessitates some ingenuity, making it an excellent form of enrichment for Yulelogs.
In summary, it was the most excellent birthday Yulelogs could have desired, and we’re confident he’s eagerly anticipating next year’s festivities.
Yulelogs is simply thrilled!
