Meet Rubble, the “world’s oldest cat!” Rubble is an astonishing 30-year-old British feline residing in Exeter, England. His guardian, Michele Foster, welcomed the ginger and white cat into her life as a small kitten, receiving him as a special 20th birthday present in May of 1988.
What a blessing he has been! The feline has served as a remarkable companion for Michele throughout all these years, and she describes him as affectionate and devoted. She credits his remarkable longevity to an abundance of affection and indulgence, treating him “like a cherished family member.”
In general, the feline has maintained a relatively good state of health, although he does suffer from high blood pressure. Dr. Shawn Moore from City Vets ensures his medical care, ensuring his stability and well-being. “Rubble is highly likely to be the oldest cat in the UK and continues to thrive. He requires medication for his blood pressure, but aside from that, he remains remarkably healthy,” stated Dr. Moore.
When questioned about the possibility of entering Rubble into the Guinness World Records, Michele replied:
“While he still has a lot of life in him, I don’t think we’ll pursue the Guinness World Record path. I believe he wouldn’t appreciate having many people visiting or attracting excessive attention. Considering his age, he prefers to live out his remaining years peacefully, without much fuss or disturbance. We would rather let him enjoy his old age in tranquility.”
The previous record holder for the oldest cat in the Guinness World Records was Cream Puff. Cream Puff lived for an impressive 38 years and 3 days. While we cannot predict Rubble’s lifespan, we do know that he will continue to be pampered and loved by his owner until his last day.
To provide you with some perspective on the cat’s exceptional longevity, the average lifespan of a domestic house cat is typically around 15 to 20 years. In comparison, outdoor cats have an average lifespan ranging from 2 to 9 years.
We extend our warm wishes to Rubble for a joyful 30th birthday, and we hope he continues to enjoy many healthy and happy days in the future!
Please share his remarkable story and the super cute photos of the oldest cat in the world with your family and friends.
