The former American actress sparkled on the red carpet on Wednesday evening at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Meghan Markle supported her close friend, 55-year-old actor, director, producer and businessman Tyler Perry, at the Paley Honors gala in Hollywood. The wife of Prince Harry and her stylist Jamie Mizrahi opted for total black. Meghan looked stunning in a strapless, off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta floor-length gown. The form-fitting Old Hollywood-style dress with a sweetheart neckline, a front slit and a small train emphasized her slender figure. The look was completed with stiletto sandals from Celine.
For jewellery, the Duchess of Sussex chose a diamond necklace custom-made by Lorraine Schwartz and Angier, several yellow gold rings, and a Cartier bracelet. Meghan wore glamorous makeup with an emphasis on her eyes and nude lip gloss. Her hair was pulled back into an elegant updo with loose, wavy locks.
One of the richest men in the entertainment industry looked immaculate in a black shirt without a tie, a club-style shiny blazer with satin lapels, black trousers and patent leather shoes. Megan and Tyler shared a warm hug and exchanged pleasantries as they posed together on the red carpet.
Meghan and Harry were part of the event’s honor committee, although the youngest son of King Charles III did not attend the red carpet. The Paley Center for Media Arts honored the influential magnate and philanthropist with a celebration in his honor and the Paley Honors Award. Tika Sumpter, Kerry Washington, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, Yvette Nicole Brown and other Hollywood celebrities attended the ceremony.
“Throughout my career, I have strived to bring people together and give a voice to those who are often overlooked. The media has served as a vital platform for that mission, and I am honoured to receive this award from an organisation dedicated to unleashing the power and importance of the press,” the Daily Mail quotes Perry as saying.
The former royal has been friends with the billionaire since 2018. Tyler was one of the first to support Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when they decided to step down as royals and leave the UK in 2020. The owner of the Tyler Perry Studios film studio provided the disgraced royal couple with his luxurious estate in Canada, where they spent several months with their son Archie, wrapping up all the “Megxit” business. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also lived in Tyler’s Beverly Hills mansion for a while before buying a luxury property in Montecito, Santa Barbara, next door to Tyler. Perry is godfather to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 3-year-old daughter, Lilibet.
