In 2020, the main character of this story decided to move into a studio apartment after divorcing his wife. Leaving her and the children with a spacious suburban home, he took out a loan and bought a compact place near his work.
Initially, he planned to pay off the loan quickly, within 3-5 years, and move to a larger apartment. However, over time, he realized that 20 square meters was more than enough for him.
“It has everything you need for comfortable living: a bedroom, a living room, a workspace, a kitchen. What more could you want?” he muses about his studio.
Let’s take a look at how this man set up his new place.
We’ll be visiting a home in Uppsala, Sweden’s second-largest city. This studio originally didn’t have a “second level,” but one was added at the owner’s request.
Inside, there’s a TV, a convenient workspace, and a mini bar. An interesting detail: each step of the staircase doubles as a storage compartment.
From the main room, there’s a view of the kitchen and entryway, which are combined into a single space. The refrigerator is set up close to the entrance, but there is a separate kitchen area. It’s an unusual arrangement, but to each their own!
In the entryway, there are custom cabinets where the owner stores shoes and outerwear.
The kitchen area also has the entrance to the bathroom. Above the refrigerator is a microwave, with additional cabinets nearby.
The bathroom is designed in a classic Scandinavian style.
What do you think of this setup? Do you think the man made the right choice to settle here long-term?
