Each creature possesses unique characteristics that distinguish it from others and grant it its own individuality. All animals are inherently beautiful in their own way.
Due to a prominent scar inflicted by his mother at birth, Newt, a puppy, is known for his “grumpy old man” expression. He lost the entire top of his snout because his mother bit his face when he was a cub.
Due to the expensive medical care required, Newt’s original owners surrendered him to the New York Bully Crew shelter in Texas, USA. However, when one door closes, another opens. Liesl Wildhart, who adopted Newt, helped him find a new forever home.
Liesl founded Luvable Dog Rescue and Animal Sanctuary, a facility dedicated to rescuing dogs. Her first act was to change her dog’s name, renaming him from Brute to Newt. She then brought Newt to her home in Eugene, Oregon (USA).
Liesl came across Newt on social media, and she made the decision to adopt him as soon as she saw him. His pictures and videos were shared on her Instagram account by the shelter. That’s where I first saw him, and I found him fascinating. I wanted to adopt Newt as a pet dog, the businessman told Metro.
Picasso and Wacku, who are two of Newt’s dog siblings, used to live with Liesl. Additionally, Newt has his own Instagram account where you can see pictures from their shared travels.
He initially struggled to adapt to the changes, but now he leads a fulfilling and content life with his owner and the other puppies. His face underwent surgery that gave him an appearance resembling an amphibian and earned him the endearing nickname of “grumpy old guy” on social media.
He requires assistance with certain tasks, such as eating, but it’s not an issue because his owner is always there to help. He has difficulty getting food into his mouth, and he tends to spit it up if he eats too much at once, as shared by Liesl in an interview with Metro. “I have to hand-feed everything he eats,” she said.
Both Newt and his siblings have facial deformities. Picasso has a distorted face, while Wacku is missing his snout. “Newt was a perfect addition to my family of dogs, and we all bonded with him instantly. He’s playful and silly like a typical puppy, but also intelligent and considerate towards the other dogs,” Liesl shared in her interview with the same outlet.
Dogs like Newt, when given a loving home, live life to the fullest and “don’t dwell on self-pity or what they’ve lost,” as stated by Newt’s owner in the interview.
