The man received a sweet “thank you” from the hummingbird that he would never forget.
Hummingbirds are remarkable creatures with stunning beauty. Because of their quick movements, we usually only catch a brief glimpse of them – unless they’re in need of help.
That’s precisely what happened to a man named Will Salameh. The compassionate man ended up having a close encounter with a hummingbird in need of rescue.
Around 8 am, Will discovered the bird in his garage and fortunately, he had a small syringe on hand to provide food and rehydration for the bird. What fortunate circumstances! The bird eagerly drank from the syringe and even looked up at its savior as if to express gratitude.
After regaining some of its strength, the bird attempted to stretch its wings – although it remained stationary.
Several hours later, the hummingbird was still in the garage, possibly trying to recover (although it’s uncertain how much a hummingbird can recover).
At 1 pm, the bird was prepared to have a little more sugar water before taking off, and its rescuer was pleased to provide it.
Around 3 pm, as it seemed like the bird might require additional time, the kind-hearted individual found some materials to create a small nest and fed it more from the syringe.
Nonetheless, eventually, it was time for the bird to depart, and we witness a hand reaching into the plastic container holding the nest materials to retrieve the bird (who seemed to have settled in quite comfortably).
It was quite enchanting to see the hummingbird perched comfortably on the person’s hand, and this small creature appeared to be aware that it was in a safe environment.
It felt so secure that it decided to stay put. After all, when someone provides you with a comfortable place to stay and free food that you don’t need to search for, why hurry?
As 4 o’clock approached, the hummingbird remained present, seemingly unenthusiastic about leaving its newfound companion.
Luckily, a few moments later, the bird concluded that it was secure enough to depart from the comfort of its temporary shelter and fly away.
This is not the only instance where a hummingbird has made headlines for lingering after being rescued.
A man and his newly adopted dog Rex discovered a hummingbird in distress. Surprisingly, after living on the harsh streets for years, it was the dog that rescued the tiny creature!
The hummingbird appeared lifeless – it had no feathers, was swarmed by ants, and lying on the ground. Nevertheless, the dog refused to abandon it.
Ed Gernon believed he had no alternative but to bring it home. To his surprise, he was able to nurse it back to health – even teaching it to fly again using a hairdryer!
He gave the bird the name “Hummer,” and it lived with him for a considerable period of time. After flying away, it would occasionally return to visit its rescuers!
It’s heartening to learn about individuals helping vulnerable hummingbirds, and it’s heartwarming to witness just how appreciative these tiny birds can be.
