A farmer in Australia got a real shock when he went to collect the eggs his chickens lay every day.
One of the hens laid a giant egg, three times the size of a normal one, weighing 176 grams (6.2 ounces).
Scott Stockman, the farm’s owner, shared a photo of the amazing find he and his staff made.
When the egg was placed next to a normal one, it looked completely unusual. But even more surprising was what they found inside when they broke it.

“One of our hens was working overtime. Look at this giant! The average egg weighs about 58 grams, and this beauty weighs 176 grams!”
Inside the egg was another egg, fully formed.
“It’s just incredible to see two perfectly formed eggs inside each other,” Scott said.
An expert from Charles Sturt University’s School of Veterinary Science admitted he had never encountered such a phenomenon before.
Associate Professor Rafael Freire explained that the hen first formed an egg, but for some reason did not lay it.
“The next day, instead of laying an egg as usual, a new ovulatory cycle occurred. The new egg came down, and somehow the hen decided to form a shell around both the previous egg and the new egg,” he said.
Experts say the egg would be safe to eat, but Scott admits his farm collects 50,000 eggs a day, so they wouldn’t even eat it.
