A weary canine was discovered tethered to a gate alongside her six recently born puppies. According to reports, the puppies were at such an early stage that their eyes had not yet opened.
A compassionate individual noticed the deserted dog and her offspring in a field located in Elphin, a small town situated in County Roscommon, Ireland.
Upon liberating the animals, the unknown individual who saved the canines proceeded to transport them to a veterinarian at the ISPCA National Animal Centre in Longford.
Thankfully, all the dogs are in good health except for being frightened and famished.
“A lurcher canine was discovered caring for her six recently born puppies yesterday while tethered to a gate in a field near Elphin, Co. Roscommon,” ISPCA shared on its Facebook page.
“A compassionate individual from the community found them and notified the Gardaà and the ISPCA. The canine and her puppies were transported to the ISPCA National Animal Centre in Longford for immediate veterinary evaluation.”
A representative for the facility mentioned that the canines did not have microchips, which is peculiar considering it is against the law.
The canine has now been given the name Emmy Lou, and her puppies have been named Billy Ray, Dixie, Dolly, Dotty, June, and Patsy. Following the start of the new year, the puppies will be open for adoption.
