Just like one intelligent cat, who is credited with saving the life of her 83-year-old owner after she accidentally fell into a ravine.
On August 14, the Bodmin Police in England initiated a search for an elderly woman who had gone missing in the vicinity. Fortunately, they quickly made a breakthrough, thanks to an unexpected source.
A local resident reportedly heard a cat persistently meowing at the edge of a vast cornfield.
Soon enough, the neighbor realized that the cat, named Piran, belonged to the missing woman—and was attempting to signal her location.
As it happened, the 83-year-old had tumbled into a profound incline in the field close to her residence.
“The elderly woman had descended around 70ft into an exceedingly steep slope, featuring exceedingly challenging entry points and uneven topography,” stated Bodmin Police.
Having successfully located the missing woman, Bodmin Police and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service promptly arrived to rescue her from the ravine.
Once she was lifted out, Cornwall Air Ambulance airlifted her to the hospital. According to reports, she was in stable condition, and an update mentioned that she remains “in good spirits” as she continues to receive medical attention.
“A tremendous ‘well done’ goes out to all the emergency services that collaborated and to Piran,” stated the unidentified neighbor to BBC. “The outcome could have been far more severe.”
Although the actual rescue was carried out by emergency responders, Piran should be highly praised for playing a crucial role in saving his owner’s life. Given the woman’s age and the difficulty in locating her, one can easily envision how the situation could have turned out differently had the cat not been so attentive.
