A tiny, ailing canine suddenly emerged in front of a hospital, and fortunately, someone informed D.A.R. Animal Rescue. Ermioni, a co-founder of the organization, came and called out to the dog, who barked at them as they drew nearer. She tried to lure “Alfie” over with food, but he refused. Rather, she pursued him as he walked away and searched for more food.
When Alfie found a piece of bread and stopped to eat it, Ermioni took the opportunity to cover his head with her jacket, which allowed her to catch him and take him to the vet. At only 10-12 months old, Alfie was suffering from scabies (mange) and anaplasmosis, which made him extremely itchy and uncomfortable. However, after receiving treatment, he began to feel better and gradually adapted to life in the shelter.
Several months have passed, and Alfie now has a new outlook on life. His fur has grown back, and he is no longer preoccupied with scratching himself. As a result, he is a joyful and sociable dog.
