(Associated Press) — BOSTON A year after the treatment, the first person in the country to have a complete face transplant has reported that he is now able to feel the kisses that his daughter gives him.
Monday was the day when Dallas Wiens, a transplant recipient from Fort Worth, Texas, visited Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston to check in with his transplant team. According to him, he is able to utilize his face more than he anticipated.
Although he was standing on a cherry picker at the time, his head came into contact with a high-voltage electrical wire in 2008, causing him to get facial burns. Furthermore, he was blinded.
According to Wiens, the sensation of his daughter’s kisses has caused him to shed tears on several occasions. He also claims that he is able to go out with his family and friends without being concerned about what other people think of him.
Wiens is able to do and feel more things, according to his doctor, and this happens every time the team meets him.
