The Florida wildlife authorities were informed about a bear that had been spotted wandering around the region.
The team attempted to tranquilize the bear prior to moving him to the rehabilitation facility.
They had readied the sedative for the task and headed towards the location where the bear was spotted last.
As soon as the tranquilizer dart was shot, the bear got frightened and fled from the area.
Though the rescue team was able to shoot the dart accurately, the black bear managed to escape quickly.
The bear, feeling threatened, fled towards the ocean in a state of panic. It started swimming to escape, unaware that the tranquilizer had been administered and was starting to take effect.
In recent years, there has been a rise in the number of reported sightings of black bears. These animals tend to be cautious around humans, but the availability of food sources can draw them back to certain locations.
It is recommended not to leave food accessible to bears outside, as it will encourage them to return.
To achieve a peaceful coexistence between humans and bears, it is essential to manage food and waste properly.
Biologist Adam Warwick acted on instinct when he realized the black bear was in danger of drowning.
Adam swam towards the bear and did what he could to help, despite the risk involved.
Warwick did not hesitate when it came to rescuing the black bear. As he attempted to save it, the bear attacked him.
Luckily, the tranquilizer had already started to take effect.
Adam came to the bear’s rescue just in time as the bear was too exhausted to swim any further.
He swam back to shore with the large bear in tow.
Despite the bear’s attempt to defend itself, Adam was only left with minor scratches after the rescue.
The bear was unconscious when they arrived at the shore.
It is possible that the bear was both fatigued and under the effects of the tranquilizer.
Kudos to Adam for his dedication during the rescue mission!
After safely bringing the bear to the shore, the team proceeded with the standard procedure for transferring him to the facility.
The black bear was later moved to Osceola National Forest.
