A dog that was born with only two legs and was abandoned to die has adapted to life by walking on her two front paws.
Mimi, a six-year-old Filipino dog with a congenital malformation, is frequently spotted running alongside other felines and wandering the streets of Casiguran in Quezon City.
Mimi, whose name means “snipped” in the Luzonian language of Tagalog, is now able to balance herself thanks to the assistance of her owner Danilo Codilego Jr.
The dog, who has become a neighborhood favorite owing to her bravery and zest for life, entered Mr. Codilego’s life when a coworker from his former job showed up with four kittens.
The other puppies were adopted, but tiny Mimi with two legs was passed over.
They believed she wouldn’t live very long. The only person with the fortitude to help her was me. We took a chance because we felt sorry for her. Other than Mimi, we were speechless.
Mimi had trouble walking for the first two years of her life, but she eventually learned to balance herself on her front legs.
The six-year-old dog, who is fiercely devoted to her owner, is now frequently spotted guarding Mr. Codilego’s home.
Mimi behaves like a guard dog, barking whenever a stranger approaches, continued Mr. Codilego.
She also seems envious if I focus on another pet. Other than that, she is friendly and well-liked in the neighborhood.
She has no issues when I have to travel for work because she is taken care of by everyone.
She is not picky. She enjoys the meals we provide.
But she cannot conceive due to her condition.
