Incredible wonders occur, particularly in the realm of wildlife, and such was the case in Sri Lanka, where a male twin elephant was born to Pandu, a father elephant, and Surangi, a 25-year-old mother elephant residing in the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
This event stands as the first of its kind in 80 years, with the previous occurrence dating back to 1941. Thankfully, the two baby elephants and their mother are reported to be in excellent health, as confirmed by Renuka Bandaranaike, the head of the orphanage.
Moreover, the probability of a female elephant giving birth to twins is approximately 1%, even though they are usually capable of giving birth 4 to 5 times throughout their lifetime. Truly a miraculous occurrence!
