Individuals who rescue and care for animals in need are the most compassionate souls on this planet. They frequently contribute their energy, money, and time, unsure if they will be able to save the animal’s life, demonstrating true courage.
Pyotr Pankratau, a Belarusian army soldier, is one such person. When he discovered a helpless baby squirrel near death, he promptly took the infant in and nursed it back to health using milk and a syringe.
Pyotr was in the right place at the right time when the squirrel required rescuing, and as a genuine soldier, he stepped up to the challenge. The squirrel survived, and their adventures together had only just begun.
After leaving the Army, Pyotr brought along his adorable squirrel companion, Masik. Masik and Pyotr were so close that when he chose to work as a taxi driver, it was only natural that his fuzzy-tailed friend came along for the ride. Pyotr stated,
“I took Masik with me wherever I went, even in the Army. So, he became accustomed to it. At home, Masik has a regular routine – he eats, then sleeps in the kitchen, either under a blanket or in the wardrobe. He prefers to sleep next to my neck, and he’s quite self-sufficient. There are no better pets than him.”
Before joining Pyotr as a co-driver in the taxi, Masik had the opportunity to live a regular life as a squirrel, but he decided to stay with his beloved human companion.
“He wandered off once, but I went over to the tree where he was and he came back to me. Recently, I placed him on a tree, and he was scared and shaking.”
Pyotr does not disclose to all his passengers that he has an adorable squirrel as his passenger in the taxi. However, he does make sure to show Masik to children because they adore him, and Masik also loves the children.
Masik seems to be enjoying his ride in the taxi and is certainly the most adorable mascot ever. His tiny ears perk up as he gazes at the world outside. He also seems very relaxed, snuggled up in his cozy squirrel blanket or dozing off on his blue squirrel bed.
Wouldn’t you like to take a ride to spend some time with Masik? We would love to.
Please share his story with your family and friends.
