On a dreary and rainy day in Brazil, Mayane Rodrigues witnessed an incredible sight outside her apartment window. She observed a young girl taking a break on the wet pavement while walking back from school on the street beneath.
The girl set aside her umbrella and took off her jacket before putting down her backpack. Rodrigues noticed a soaked stray pup at the girl’s feet, and it became clear to her what was going on. Afterward, Rodrigues observed the girl holding the puppy and departing.
Rodrigues shared with The Dodo, “Everything occurred so swiftly. It was an incredibly emotional moment.” She continued, “I sent the footage to a friend, who then shared it with a local community, and that’s how I discovered the identity of the heroine.” The young girl, Cibley Stiegelmair, who is just 12 years old, had a significant impact on the stray pup’s life despite their encounter being brief.

Rejane Stiegelmair, Cibely’s mother, shared with The Dodo, “I was taken aback when she showed up with the puppy because she was drenched and perspiring due to the rainfall. There was blood on her shirt, and I assumed she had been injured, but she informed me that she discovered the injured puppy.” Fortunately, the pup’s injuries were minor and only required some loving attention to heal.
Rejane expressed, “Cibely has a genuinely kind heart. She sympathizes with stray dogs deeply,” adding, “If it were feasible, she would adopt them all.” The young girl welcomed the puppy, whom she affectionately named Pretinha, into their home warmly.
