Porcupine parents bravely protect their babies from a persistent leopard
Animals can be very protective of their offspring. A video of a confrontation between a determined leopard and a family of porcupines has gone viral.
The video, posted on Twitter by Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Supriya Sahu, shows two porcupines on a road with their porcupettes. Shortly after, a leopard approaches them and attempts to grab the young porcupines. However, the adult porcupines form a defensive barrier to shield their babies from the predator. Despite the leopard’s repeated attempts, the porcupines continue to protect their young.
“Porcupine parents provide high-security protection to their babies from a leopard, fighting courageously and thwarting all the leopard’s attempts to even touch their baby. It’s amazing. By the way, a baby porcupine is called a ‘porcupette’,” the caption said.

At the time of generating this response, the clip had collected more than 300,000 views on the platform, and many users seemed fascinated by the encounter.
“The video may end, but judging by the persistence of the leopard, it’s likely that he would not have given up and would have eventually succeeded in taking away his target,” a user commented.
