Genuine friends care for each other, regardless of species. The strong bond between this boy and his cow is evidence of the love that can be shared between humans and animals.
Mitchell Miner had high hopes of winning first prize when he entered his cow at the Iowa State Fair.
During the summer, Mitchell dedicated weeks of hard work and long hours to preparing his cow, Audri, for the Youth Dairy Cattle show. As they worked together, their bond of friendship grew stronger.
On the day of the show, Mitchell and Audri gave it their all but ended up coming in fifth place, despite their efforts. It was an exhausting day, so after the show, Audri wanted to rest. Mitchell shared, “Audri wanted to lay down a bit. She just enjoys my company.”
After all the hard work, Audri finally got to lay down, with Mitchell by her side. Soon after, Mitchell fell asleep, snuggled up to Audri with her large, gentle head resting on his lap.
Mitchell’s father captured the tender moment in a photo and shared it on Facebook, where it has since gone viral, spreading joy to anyone who sees the special friendship between a boy and his cow.
Every summer, Mitchell’s parents invite farm animals to their home to expose their family to the farm lifestyle. They take care of the animals as if they were their own. However, the animals do return to their respective farms, just like Audri was returned to her farm after the livestock show in the fall.
Feel free to share this picture of a truly special friendship and spread some love.
