Firefighters are undoubtedly heroes, putting their lives on the line to save lives and property. Despite their busy schedules, they also manage to help in less risky situations, such as rescuing cats from trees.
They never know what kind of emergency their next call may bring, but the call they received on this particular day was definitely unique for the department. The firefighters at California’s Lathrop Manteca Fire District responded to a call involving not just a cat stuck in a tree, but also a German Shepherd dog.
Reportedly, a black cat had climbed the tree in an attempt to escape from the German Shepherd. However, the dog quickly followed and climbed up as well. Now, both the cat and the dog were stuck, as per CBS Sacramento.
“The German Shepherd had ascended a tree while chasing a black cat and was unable to find its way back down. Firefighters from Engine 35 deployed their ladder and assisted the pup in descending safely. They even provided the dog with oxygen upon its return to the ground.”
The firefighters reportedly finished their Santa duties and then responded to the call to rescue the German Shepherd. Fortunately, the dog was in good condition after receiving oxygen and water. Hopefully, it will avoid climbing trees in the future. Thankfully, the cat also came out unharmed.
The brave firefighters at the fire department took it all in stride and shared on Facebook:
“You may have heard that our firefighters rescue cats from trees, but what about dogs?!?! Right after Truck 30 and Engine 35 finished with Santa, that was their next call. We’re glad to hear that everything turned out well for this dog, and we’re pretty sure he’ll think twice about chasing cats up trees in the future… great job, Engine 35!”
Please acknowledge these heroes by sharing this special dog rescue with your loved ones and acquaintances.
