The Budweiser Clydesdale horses are world-renowned and easily recognized. They have a massive following of fans from all corners of the globe. While they make appearances in various countries, they are most famous for their beloved appearances in Super Bowl commercials for Anheuser-Busch.
The initial six horses were an unexpected present to their father, August A. Busch, Sr., from August Busch and Adolphus Busch III in April 1933. Today, the team is still thriving and has a cute new addition, a precious foal named Carly, who is the firstborn foal of 2019.
In September of last year, baby Carly was born at the horse breeding and training facility, Warm Spring Ranch. The birth of the cute foal was shared on Facebook, along with her first unsteady steps. Currently, Carly is happy spending time with her mom and enjoying her time as a baby. However, in the future, she will work to educate the public and serve as an ambassador for her breed.
Carly, being a female horse, will never pull a wagon filled with beer, as those horses are all males. The males of this breed can grow up to 18 hands tall and weigh as much as 2200 pounds. Their horse shoes alone measure 20″ in length and weigh 20 pounds each, while their handcrafted harnesses and collars can weigh up to 130 pounds. The horses are given short names like Duke, Mark, and Bud to make it easier for the driver to give commands during performances.
These magnificent horses reside in a beautiful red brick building that was constructed in 1885. This stunning facility, known as Warm Springs Ranch, is situated on the training grounds in St. Louis, Missouri. Every year, around two dozen foals are welcomed into the Budweiser family at the ranch.
The public has the option to take tours of Warm Springs Ranch, where they can choose between a guided tour or a VIP tour. Both tours provide a behind-the-scenes look at the process of breeding these legendary Clydesdales, and offer an up-close and personal encounter with the magnificent horses, including the adorable Carly.
