One of Boyle’s biggest talents is her ability to take classic songs from legendary musicals and put her unique touch on them, letting audiences experience every emotion imaginable. The Got Talent star achieved this feat famously with “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables, and we’ve discovered another instant classic, “Bring Him Home,” which she recorded from the same musical.
Experience Boyle’s elegance and power performance as you listen to it here. Despite never having performed on the Les Misérables stage, Boyle could effortlessly enter and feel completely at ease if the opportunity presented itself!
When Boyle feels anything, she makes sure that anybody who listens feels it as well. When combined with her impeccable vocal range and tone, Boyle’s performances turn every song into an intense emotional journey.
Boyle commented on her triumph in a 2020 interview with Country Images, saying she still can’t believe how rapidly her life changed following her Britain’s Got Talent audition in 2009.
“One day you’re sitting in a room with your cat not doing anything; the next you’re on stage and in a competition,” she joked. “It was a complete turnaround.” Of course, with age comes wisdom, and the now-63-year-old diva didn’t let the spotlight of fame keep her from pursuing her passion.
As you get older, you calm down from being nervous as a child. I’m living my dream! “I’ve enjoyed every second of it,” she remarked.
Simon Cowell, a longtime AGT judge, has been instrumental in her commercial success since that stunning, viral moment on Britain’s Got Talent. Boyle told Country Images that Cowell has been a mentor and, above all, a loyal supporter of the singing star throughout her astonishing career.
“Simon was really supportive and nice. “I can’t say anything bad about him,” she remarked.
Boyle published her rendition of “Bring Him Home” in 2012 as part of her Standing Ovation: The Greatest Songs from the Stage album, an album that celebrated the singer’s fondest theatrical events from her youth.
The song is about the character of Valjean pleading with God to return Marius to safety, even if it means sacrificing his own life in the process. Interestingly, the original 1980 French theatrical production did not include “Bring Him Home,” despite its inclusion in every subsequent rendition of the legendary musical.
Notable covers of “Bring Him Home” include Josh Groban and Barry Manilow, among others.
